Was the new staff member, informed and understood that any medication under administration should never be left available to the service user? The medication is to be taken under our staff permission during the call that the medication is due. The reason is that if the medication is left available, the service user can take the dose at the close time of the next visit and get overdosed. Also when prompting medication the member of staff must supervise and ensure the service user effectively takes the medication.
